In the course of the last 350 years or so, the small town of Essex was a thriving center of shipbuilding and constructed perhaps 4,000 vessels. It is believed to have built more two-masted sailing ships that than any other town in the world! This presentation will sketch many aspects of that endeavor.
Lee is vice president of the Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum. He has a long obsession with vessels of all sorts and more recently has had the pleasure of studying Essex shipbuilding history.
Online ticket purchases are now closed. Tickets may be paid for at the door.
